Self-Hosted Mem0 Memory Stack
Persistent AI memory with Postgres/pgvector
Built & Deployed2026
Persistent, semantic agent memory
Solved arm64-only image by building from source
MCP-wired end-to-end (add/search/list/update/delete)
AI agents otherwise forget everything between sessions. This project gives them a persistent, semantic memory layer β the same kind of recall a human gets from a βsecond brain.β
What I built
- A self-hosted Mem0 backend: Postgres + pgvector for vector storage, with a DeepInfra LLM + embeddings brain (cheap, no local GPU).
- A full Docker Compose deployment with dependencies, migrations, and systemd boot autostart ordered around Postgres being healthy.
- An MCP integration exposing
add / search / list / update / delete, so agents can search-before-repeating and save durable facts. - Solved a real infrastructure problem: the published image was arm64-only, so I built the server from source on the x86_64 host and pinned migrations.
Result: a working, verified self-hosted memory stack β persistent facts stored, semantically retrieved, and wired into the automation loop.
Outcomes
- Stood up a full self-hosted memory stack with semantic search and recall confirmed end-to-end.
- Solved an arm64-only published image by compiling the server from source on x86_64.
- Wired the stack into agent tooling via MCP with a curated, de-duplicated seed.
