Self-Hosting & Automation
Obsidian Auto-Learning Loop
A self-owning knowledge system (`oci nightly`)
Built & Deployed2026
Runs daily on a non-24/7 box (anacron-style catch-up)
Chains capture → distill → curate → mem0 → git
Automated secret redaction in transcript pipelines
A personal knowledge base is only useful if it stays current. This project automates the whole refinement loop so the vault improves itself every day.
The closed loop
capture → distill → curate → mem0 digest → git commit
- Captures raw sessions automatically.
- Distills them into one-idea-per-note atomic notes linked by wikilinks.
- Curates and flips distillation flags deterministically.
- Syncs a semantic memory digest and commits everything to git for history/rollback.
Engineering rigor
- Runs on a non-24/7 machine using an anacron-style catch-up (fires after boot if a run was missed) plus a backstop cron.
- Token-guarded and flock-serialized so the night job never OOMs or races on a small box.
- Secret redaction built into the automated transcript pipeline.
- A post-commit hook logs all repository commits into the vault’s journal.
Result: a durable, self-maintaining knowledge system — and a working example of applied automation and agent orchestration.
Outcomes
- Built a closed daily loop that advances the knowledge base every night without manual curation.
- Added automated redaction so secrets never leak into logs or notes.
- Gated and serialized the job to run safely on a small, intermittently-on machine.
